It has been almost a year since I posted in this journal, which is quite horrible of me. Not all that much has changed. I'm still struggling with my weight, school, and all those lovely things, only now I'm 26. Fulham is still low in the tables (worse than last year) and I'm coming to terms (somewhat) with getting B's.

The second book in the Finishing School Series came out last week Curtsies & Conspiracies, and it is fantastic, as I've come to expect from Gail. It's even better than the first one! Inspired by the book, I've got my hair in curling rags, just to see what happens with much shorter hair than what I used to have.

Medical stuff: In a way, same old, same old. Partially because I now have no insurance and haven't been to the doctor since about April of last year. Whoops.

School: Dental Operatory & Dental Administration, Bs in both. :(

Stats:
Weight: 214.5

I had off today, woo! I go back tomorrow, bah humbug. Still, I had a good weekend. Tiffany came over and stayed the night and we ended up going shopping and having lunch at Outback Steakhouse. Not good for my desire to loose weight, but really delicious, especially since I got a Wallaby Darned and finally got the lone drink I had planned in July, some months late. Drinks now need to be planned due to the Metformin. (Which, let's be honest, I'm really bad at remembering to take.

After that we went to Toys r' Us where I bought a pressie for [personal profile] princessstarr and then later Tiffany bought me a doll from the Bratzillaz line (I think it's supposed to rival Mattel's Monster High, but reminds me more of The Worst Witch or Harry Potter) because apparently a redheaded witch who loves to fly is irresistible. (That's probably not wrong.)

Then, of course, since we were there, I could not resist the lure of Jo-Ann Fabrics. In this case it was probably a very good thing, since I found a perfect pattern for the Birthday Plot! It was from a company I had never heard before: Burda. It's their 7880, a 1888 dress with a French bodice, bustle overskirt, skirt, and bustle. Sounds fantastic, right? $14.95 and I ended up paying $8.99. SCORE!

This, of course, meant that yesterday Granny and I ended up going through the material in the sewing room. I found two shades of blue gabardine that I thought would look nice, but I don't know if we have enough. I think tomorrow we may try to measure it out, since today Granny apparently trimmed the pattern without me. So what does this mean? YAY BIRTHDAY PLOTZ.

The GPToA (TM) Fund stands thusly tonight:
$100 in bills
$27 check from InboxDollars
$47 in rolled coins

Football (ie: Fulham) Update: No update. Still at #12, next game on Saturday v. Stoke City.

So, I had a good day today. After I blogged last night I began Ruby Red by Kristen Gier. I truly only intended to read a chapter, and instead, I ended up finishing the entire thing at about 4:27 AM. I may complain, but it's been awhile since I really sat down and indulged with books. Of course, my review is up on Goodreads. At my house, I've decided to read Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey on [personal profile] princessstarr's recommendation. At Granny's, haven't quite decided yet, though I've downloaded several free steampunk novellas on my Nook to read and review.

Right now, however, I am currently drinking ginger ale (yummy but bad for me) and watching Giles & Sue Live The Good Life. I now want to watch the show that inspired it, which is basically a suburban British version of Green Acres with nosy neighbors like from Bewitched.

The GPToA (TM) Fund stands thusly tonight:
$69 in bills
$27 check from InboxDollars
$27 in rolled coins
$7 in unrolled coins
For a current total of $130

Tomorrow I intend to attempt to begin loosing weight again. Here's hoping.

I have finally got my hands on Etiquette and Espionage and it is glorious. For a proper review and fannish squeeing, see my Goodreads review. Suffice to say that it is totally and utterly worth TWO trips to B&N and the required unladylike begging of the paternal unit in order to get me there. It has also reminded me of my need to sit down and review things more often (and read things more often.)

In school news, well, it's starting to get depressing, if I'm honest. I kind of feel as though I'm constantly out of the loop compared to the closer girls -- and I'm not sure if it's just geography and my inability to drive, or what. Like apparently they're all planning a trip to YoGoCrazy after school on Valentine's Day when we get out early...and I wasn't invited. I know I have other things to do that night, parents' anniversary, guests, etc. -- but it would have been nice if they had even offered -- or at least asked if I could fit them in, mostly because I really would have tried to do so. It really makes me miss [personal profile] princessstarr, Mina, and everyone else even more. And then I write something like that and feel like an absolute girl.

Current Grades, overall, not happy. High B in Dental Sciences, suspicious as to how I lost .5 of a point on a quiz I thought I had aced rather thoroughly. Disappointed in self, attempting to avoid conspiracy theories about teacher disliking me. Aforementioned teacher suggested I not strive for perfection -- am currently unable to conceive of how to do such a thing.

Football Update: Fulham currently at #12 after coming to a draw with Norwich City today (well, yesterday.) Up a slot woo. Wish they had won though.

Crafty Update: Chrissy loved the baby afghan/crib blanket. I finally managed to deliver it on Wednesday, so that's wonderful.

Birthday Plots Update: Discussed with Granny the possibility of proper habiliment -- framed idea as "Birthday Present if possible ILOVEYOUPLEASE." She did not rule it out and we peeked at patterns and discussed mixing and matching and my weight. (Not good, but better than it once was, but not as good as it was before hols either.) Of course, having this discussion with the maker of copious Christmas cookies, cupcakes, chocolate chunk muffins and cakes for every holiday and birthday of friends and family living or dead kind of explains post-holiday weight loss slump.

Mentioned Dorian's to [personal profile] princessstarr. We shall see what comes of it after THE GREAT PITTSBURGH TRIP OF AWESOME (TM).

Well, good news? Fulham crushed West Ham 3-1. Now if they can just do that against Man. United today, I will be a very happy bunny.

Bad news: I got an 89% on my test. I am sorely disappointed in myself for that. I cannot miss another review day. Runner up is only the first loser. You don't stay on President's List with B's. And then to top it off, somehow, I got 9/10 on my sodding journal about the lab exercise. How the bloody hell did I screw that up? I'll be asking on Monday to be sure. On top of that we had a spreahsheet project to do where we ordered weekly supplies and proper PPE for a general dental practise. I came home and used Da's computer to ensure I got it perfect and what did I get? 98%. I must not be working hard enough.

This chapter we're doing currently is microbiology. It seems pretty basic in the book. If I do anything less than perfect on this, me who took AP Biology and aced the microbiology chapter in that, course, well I don't know what I'll do. Go hide in a hole, perhaps.

Taking Tiffany to BTI's open house tomorrow. That should be interesting. I don't know who all will be there. Should be interesting. Da's radio station will be broadcasting live, if nothing else.

Checked BN for early Etiquette and Espionage release. Sadly. no luck. Next week for sure, at least.

Dorian's Parlor is meeting a week to the day before my birthday this year. I really want to go. I just have to figure out how to get myself (and possibly Tiffany, if I cannot convince [personal profile] princessstarr to come back to the middle of nowhere visit.) proper habiliment to attend. I can hope, if nothing else.

I'm ill today. I feel like my poor head was put through the meat grinder. After yesterday's snow day that makes twice this week I missed class. Boo. We had a quiz today, but luckily for me, they drop your lowest quiz score. My English teacher messaged me and said I could bring in my homework for today on Thursday, so that's a double relief. Lori called and checked that I knew the test was tomorrow. No matter how I feel, have to go in tomorrow.

I marathoned Pride and Prejudice the other day for the anniversary of it, and made plans for my trip to Pittsburgh over Spring Break. Let's be fair, they are very dorky plans, but I am a very dorky person. So museums and afternoon tea and bookstores, workshopping NaNoWriMo and such is pretty bloody awesome compared to hanging around the house. I kind of think it might be fun to live up there permanently (well, aside from even more snow than we have here). So, I was kind of looking at salaries and jobs and such - it would be nice to get out of here.

Loads of football games today! I am really excited about the West Ham v. Fulham game. Let's go Whites!

I missed yesterday, but that's okay, nothing much happened. I got my certificate for President's List for Summer Quarter. Woo. I did some brief crocheting and had both classes. We worked in partners in English Comp, and had to ask twenty questions to our partner and then introduce them to our class. Luckily I was teamed up with Danielle, so I was a lot more comfortable than if I had been partnered with someone I didn't know. It was sheer luck that our birthdays were close to each other.

We had our four hour dental class today. It was boring in the beginning, more lecture, this time mostly from the OSAP manual. Lori gave us a half-hour break for dinner, which was nice, but my downfall, because I broke down and bought a pizza, cheese curls, and a cookie. It was horrid of me, but I was hungry and we had this long break.

Afterward, things got a lot better, and we learned how to load a syringe, how to put in and take out the carpules, twist off the bottom of the needle, screw it into the syringe, engage the harpoon of the syringe, uncap the needle, recap it, remove the carpule and the needle. It was good to do something hands on. We were supposed to be in the lab, but they had overbooked it or something so this was what we did instead, at our desks in the basement classroom.

Oh! Football update. Southampton and Everton ended up in a 0-0 draw. Today, Arsenal crushed West Ham 5-1. Next games aren't until Tuesday, so Fulham is still #14 on the table. Happily they'll get a boost with these games, and their next one on the 30 January.

New week, new school term, new resolutions, new blog. It seemed to suit. Since school break started last month, I sort of went off the rails during break and put back on some of the weight I worked so hard to get off, but now that school is back in session and I seem to be back on a proper schedule I'm hoping everything will get better.

The one downside to school being back is the honest-to-goodness feeling I get that my classmates don't necessarily like me. It's a feeling I'm kind of used to, but that doesn't make it better. It could just be because some of them live/work closer than others. Maybe I'm just used to not being liked, so I'm trying not to convince myself it's likely nothing.

Everton's playing Southampton today, don't know if I'm going to be able to catch it on the telly or not. I can hope. Fulham's not doing so well, seventh from the bottom. Sadness for the Whites.

I've been working on improving my crocheting, because really, I'm a little pathetic when I compare my knitting and embroidery to my attempts to crochet. I will get better! (I hope.)

I've also been working on my homework, which unsurprisingly, is harder than before. I suppose that's to be expected in the difference between 220 and 101. I have English Comp I tomorrow, too. I'm not sure how I feel about that class yet. I'd much rather be writing stories than essays, but the teacher is amusing. Journalling -- well, I do like to journal, as this blog is evidence of, but school journaling is quite different and much more intimidating.

I am going to try and stress out less, however. The more I stress, the worse off I am as showcased by my binge last weekend. Goal for this weekend? Clean, clean, clean. The house needs a total going over. Whether I'll get it done or not, I'm going to start.
